Testimonials

  • "As patron of the Glen Iris School of Dance, I have observed Kerrie McArthur for the past 3 years as a Ballet Teacher and Coach. Kerrie is responsible for preparing students who wish to transition from after school training to a more intense halfway curriculum as well as other responsibilities at this wonderful studio. She is thorough, well prepared, focused and knowledgeable in all aspects of Classical Ballet from warm up and preparation for young dancers through to coaching in all the performative aspects of a future career. She is focused on the physical aspects of each individual’s technique, incorporating biomechanics awareness for a strong classical base, as well as harnessing their artistry through port de bras and phrasing. Her care for the students as individuals, is balanced by her awareness of the discipline it takes to make a transition from ballet as a hobby to a possible career in our art form. I have seen great progress in Kerrie’s students over the years and highly recommend her."

  • "Kerrie McArthur conducted the first teaching seminar I attended and I immediately gravitated towards her method on delivering information on a level that was both engaging and understandable for any age group. When we crossed paths 5 years later, I asked her to consider teaching at my ballet studio which she thankfully accepted. In 2015 Kerrie took over the Half-Day program and over the past 10 years has developed it into her own beautiful syllabus. Structured to build on strength, technique, artistry and musicality the program is impressively spread over 3 levels with the aim of bridging the gap to full-time training. We have had many students accepted into reputable full-time training programs both in Australia and overseas including The San Francisco Ballet School, Houston Ballet Academy, English National Ballet School, The Australian Ballet School and the Queensland Ballet Academy. With a desire to never stop learning and a passion to deliver her teaching on a holistic level Kerrie has been a most vital part in the success of our graduating students. I look forward to continuing our longstanding collaboration for many years to come."

  • "Kerrie McArthur has assessed classical Ballet at the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne since 2016 at all levels of the undergraduate Bachelor of Fine Arts program. As the main classical ballet technique teacher of the 3rd year graduating students I have been consistently impressed with Kerrie’s depth of understanding of each student’s particular approach to their dancing and how this related to their technical capacities. Her feedback incorporates keen technical knowledge with astute teaching expertise which is invaluable for providing the students with information that are specific to their individual requirements. Kerrie’s insightful an constructive feedback is delivered with a positive attitude towards maximising every student’s potential to its best outcome, challenging and motivating them towards achieving dance technique that is distinguished by its clarity, musicality and optimal and efficient physical execution. I have been thrilled to work with Kerrie and to learn from her extensive teaching experience."

  • "We had the pleasure recently of assessing the half-day students at Glen Iris School of Dance, in a class constructed and taught by Kerrie McArthur. We were very impressed by the calibre of the students, and felt the class not only challenged them, but also afforded them the opportunity to dance to the best of their abilities. We have no hesitation in recommending her as a classical ballet tutor."
